Chef's knives and knife sets.

Knives · checked Oct 10, 2026

For: Home cooks and campers who want a full dishwasher safe knife set with shears and blade guards.

Skip if: People who need only one or two knives should buy those individually instead.

Before you buy knives

Most cooking needs three knives: a chef's knife, a paring knife and a bread knife.
Heavier German-style knives are tough and forgiving; thinner Japanese-style blades are sharper but chip more easily.
Plan for sharpening. A block with a built-in sharpener or a simple honing rod keeps any knife useful.
